Evil Plans
My Approach:
- I used a didgeridoo theme for the Shire Kahn character to give the audience a sonic signal every time he was entered a scene or conceived of something evil. In this moment, he was instructing the monkeys to murder the child.

The Jungle Ambience
My Approach:
- To aid in the creation of the Jungle world I created an ambience that ran almost the entire time while in this setting.

The show
The story is set in a secret jungle in our own Balboa Park, a magic place between the leaves and vines bounded by park, zoo, and the freeways. Larlham’s updated version sets the adventure in a modern jungle where the impact of global warming escalates the danger of drought and disaster for the animals.
This design involved combining the realism of modern day city live into the magical realm of the secret jungle.

- For this piece, I needed to compose a rhythmic rolling drum bit that the monkey characters could choreograph their movements and song to.
